Liberia's Ministry of Education to Halt Academic Activities June 2015

Education Minister George Werner The Ministry of Education wants to halt academic activities for pupils at the end of June this year. Speaking on the Liberia Broadcasting System’s Bumper Show, Education Minister George Werner said academic activities for this year will begin in September. He said students will have to halt all learning activities in June and resume a new school year in September. Werner said students would not ... get credit for the courses that they are currently taking, but it would be considered study class. The move is meant to revamp the education system. At present, it is unclear as to whether the government will underwrite tuition fees that have been paid by parents across the country. Parents have not been reacting well to the decision by the government to close the schools. George Weah junior gets Liberia call-up for 2017 qualifier

The 27-year-old George Weah junior has been named in Liberia's squad for Sunday's match in Togo. He was born in Liberia but grew up in the USA, where he played some friendly games for the national under-20 team. Weah junior was also on the books of two of his father's old clubs. He was in the junior teams at AC Milan, where his father made his name, from the age of 14 but was let go before he turned 20. Since then his career has been restricted to the lower leagues in Switzerland and briefly in Greece. He last played professional football at another of his father's old clubs with two substitute appea
