I was thinking on something unique to blog about and thought to myself, "why not share some of my juice recipes with my fans." I've been juicing for a month. At first, I thought it would be nasty, but surprisingly, it is really yummy. I have a detox treat for you. The blueberry-cabbage juice is one of my favorites. If you think cabbage juice can't taste amazing, this delicious cleansing juice concoction created by Robyn Law from Girl On Raw
might just change you mind! Robyn mixes red and green cabbage with
sweet beets, carrots, celery, apple, lemon, and ginger for one of the
best cabbage detox juices I have tasted. Cabbage is absolutely LOADED with goodness. Cabbage
contains powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well
as being widely known to have potent anti-cancer agents. It is wonderful
for protecting the cardiovascular system, as it helps to reduce
cholesterol by binding bile acids in the intestine that help to pass
them out of our bodies in a bowel movement rather than emulsifying in
your liver. The lactic acid in cabbage also acts as a potent colon
cleanser.
Cabbage also contains amazing phytonutrients that help protect the body from free radical cell damage. They contain a substance called Sulforaphane, which can increase the production of antioxidant and detoxification enzymes, stimulating the production of glutathione, the most important internally produced antioxidant that plays a role in liver detoxification.
Cabbage is rich in iron and sulfur, is an excellent source of vitamin C, a good source of vitamin A, and is a great muscle builder and blood cleanser. It is also fabulous for skin and eye health.
Cabbage juice, in particular, is a magical elixir that helps to heal all kinds of ailments. The Romans and Greeks used to drink raw cabbage juice to relieve sore and infected eyes. It can also help reduce headaches, and respiratory complaints such as asthma and bronchitis. It is really effective for treating fungus infections due to it's sulfur content. Cabbage juice is also a wonderful digestive aid -- fabulous for the overall health of the stomach and intestinal tract, for helping to regulate healthy bacteria in the stomach, as well as being great for helping to heal stomach ulcers.
