By Nan Quojo Antwi - Boasiako

Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos, who many consider the best Central defender emerged as a top summer target for Louis van Gaal who wanted to take advantage of contractual dispute between Ramos and Madrid. However the Madrid captain has now confirmed that his loyalty to the Bernabeu team was influenced by United’s interest before he eventually lengthened his deal
He told COPE, “I considered changing for a while but Real Madrid was always my priority and there was no economic reasons. Did I feel cheated by Madrid? No, but I did feel disappointed for a while. There were some troubles that came to an end.

The defender was asked about reported interest from Chelsea Football Club and he said “I have not heard about it. Many things have always been said. Flattery from big clubs is always good and this is because you are doing well but if the fans and my club want me”
Ramos, who is 30 years has been a pillar in defence for Real Madrid since he joined them from Seville over 9 seasons ago. He didn’t have a good start to the season under Rafael Benitez but he is back to his best under new manager Zidane.
