The Political Leader of the Liberty Party, Charles W. Brumkskine has announced Benjamin Sanvee as the new Chairman of the Party, in wake of the resignation of former Chairman J. Fonati Koffa. Sanvee will hold the post pending a meeting of the National Council of the Liberty Party, at which a new Chairman will be elected according to an LP release issued in Monrovia today. Cllr. Brumskine, has also accepted the resignation of Cllr. Koffa, who recently took up a position in the Unity Party-led government as Minister of State Without Portfolio. Cllr. Koffa kicked off his appointment as head of a Presidential investigative task force to probe the recent Global Witness report uncovering massive corruption involving members of the current Liberian Legislature. "The LP Political Leader thanked Chairman Koffa for the invaluable services he rendered the Party over the years, indicating that his leadership has transformed the Party, well positioning it for the 2017 Presidential and General Elections" states the LP release. Cllr. Brumskine states that as much as the leadership of the outgoing Chairman would be missed, he was pleased that Cllr. Koffa has consented to assist the Government and the country. Sanvee led the party into the 2014 Montserrado County Senatorial elections, a seat captured by former soccer star George Weah.
