Life sentences upheld for 9 Liberian mercenaries

MONROVIA - Nine Liberian mercenaries accused of mounting deadly attacks near Ivory Coast's western border with Liberia had their life sentences upheld on Friday, while four more were acquitted and released.
Liberia's Supreme Court found that the men, originally convicted in June 2014, were responsible for a string of cross-border attacks including a 2012 assault that left seven UN peacekeepers from Niger dead.
Several thousand Liberian mercenaries fought in the violence that rocked Ivory Coast in the aftermath of a disputed November 2010 election, most of them recruited by ex-president Laurent Gbagbo as he fought to cling to power after losing the poll.
The stand-off sparked four months of fighting that claimed more than 3,000 lives.

Liberia: Kpanto Entertains Small Crowd at Australia Concert

Kpanto's Australia tour's first night in Perth on April 1st was a tour in terms of attendance, but the artist still managed to put up a fantastic show in spite of the low crowd. Despite Kpanto's tremendous popularity, the attendance was unsatisfactorily low. A video that was just found online shows that there were between 25 and 65 people present.
