Liberia: Bill Jallah Charged with Murder

By Berenice Mulubah On December 21, 2024, Bill Jallah, the defendant, was accused of stabbing his ex-friend, Princess Zuo, to death. The incident occurred at a local entertainment center in Duport Road, Paynesville, where Jallah reportedly attempted to reconcile with Princess. However, her refusal allegedly triggered a violent outburst. Eyewitnesses stated that Jallah first attacked his sister, Kormassa Jallah, stabbing her in the arm before launching a brutal assault on Princess. Princess suffered multiple stab wounds to her abdomen, neck, stomach, and back, and despite efforts by bystanders to save her, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after the attack. On December 27, 2024, Mr. Jallah was officially charged by the Monrovia City Court with several offenses, including murder, criminal attempt, aggravated assault, and repeated assault. He competed for Best New Artist alongside Fluxii, Mr. Church, Lil Moore, Writerman Willy, and Big Mercy. Previous recipients comprise Anitram and Kaandace Cooper. Spize made his debut on the Liberian music industry one year ago with the release of his smash single, Melo. The Spize nomination was an appropriate decision. He has subsequently released another track titled "My Side." This is his inaugural kolopop song. The lyrics poignantly express the theme of his mother's passing. The song has been out for eight days. This week, My Side has reached 50,000 listens on Audiomack. "I look forward to doing greater things in 2025," says Spize.

Liberia: Fire Breaks Out At Capitol Building

  Liberia's Capitol Building on Fire Liberia's president denounced the "wanton destruction" after the country's Capitol Building caught fire on Wednesday, although there was no immediate confirmation that the fire was related to anti-government demonstrations in the capital. Anger at the decision to oust the speaker of the house, an opposition party accused of corruption, sparked the protests in the West African country on Tuesday.  The cause of the fire in Monrovia, the capital, was not immediately confirmed by authorities. Arson was not ruled out by the police chief.

Liberia's Speaker of the House of Representatives 'Jonathan Fonati Koffa' Questions for Capitol's Building Fire

  Liberia's Capitol Building on Fire Liberia's House of Representatives Speaker, Jonathan Fonati Koffa, was questioned by police following a significant fire at the Capitol Building. On Wednesday morning, Monrovia residents saw thick black smoke and flames engulfing the Capitol. The fire destroyed the entire joint chambers of the legislature, but fortunately, no one was inside at the time. Four individuals, including Speaker Koffa and Representative Frank Saah Foko, were brought in for police questioning. The fire occurred a day after protests erupted over plans to remove Koffa from his speaker role. Representative Foko had allegedly posted a video on Facebook stating, "If they want us to burn the chambers, we will burn it." Police Chief Coleman mentioned that Foko needs to clarify his statement, and Koffa must explain a Facebook post he made during the protests.
